Just a lil something to start

Why hello there, my name is Matt. I come from a small town, Brookfield, Connecticut, where I was raised for most of my life. I lived with my Mom, Dad, brother, and sister in our dutch colonial white home, tucked away in the woods. Surrounded by rich biodiversity, I spent a lot of my childhood outside, digging salamanders out of the ground, climbing the biggest boulders I could find, and terrorizing the local squirrels and birds.

Sports dominated most of my upbringing, starting with my early careers in basketball, tee-ball, and wrestling, followed by my more serious athletic pursuits such as lacrosse, football, and rugby. I played lacrosse and football from 7–8 years old all through high school, and into college for the latter. My larger build at 6 feet, 220 lbs (at the time) made me much more accustom to physical sports, and the thrill they brought me was exhilarating.

I graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2019 with a Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering. My first professional pursuit was in the consulting world with a company called Tighe&Bond, where I specialized in construction observation at water and wastewater treatment plants. After 18 months, I came to realize that the consulting world was not exciting to me anymore, and I needed to find a use for my engineering degree where I was more capable of change. After learning that the agriculture sector consumes over 40% of the worlds fresh water and a staggering amount of land space, I found the industry where I wanted to try my hand. I saw an opportunity for great change within the agricultural world, and that is how I stumbled about hydroponic agriculture. I now find myself with BrightFarms, a hydroponic baby-greens company dedicated to reducing our impact on the planet with sustainable growth and locally provided products.

I like to draw, sculpt, read, write, smoke, watch anime, play with puzzles, do math, and learn learn learn. I could write on and on but this is just an intro…So alas, until next time, thank you for reading.

Matt

Hello hello, welcome to my page. I enjoy writing, and my drive to do so has dwindled since graduating college. So here I am, revamping that hobby. Enjoy!
